Downtown Columbus is home to many historically and architecturally significant churches representing the finest in craftsmanship and ecclesiastical design. Please join us for a walking tour of four stalwart churches – enjoy seasonal music at each with introductions from WOSU Classical 101 Host Christopher Purdy. Learn the rich architectural history of each church from Columbus Landmarks experts. Understand how the churches work to meet the needs of their dynamic congregations and the greater neighborhood, while being caretakers of some of Columbus’ most important and challenging buildings.

First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St. , featuring Kevin Jones, Organist
St. Joseph Cathedral, 212 E. Broad Street, featuring Schola Choir and Ave Maria Palestrina
Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. Broad St., featuring Nick Tepe, Carillon Bells
Broad Street United Methodist Church, 501 E. Broad St., featuring Chancel Choir and Carol Sing  

Tour begins at First Congregational Church at 2 p.m. Free parking is available in the surface lot west of First Congregational on Broad St. and the surface lot behind First Congregational on 9th Street. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. The tour route is 1 mile. If the weather is inclement or you wish to drive and park at each stop for accessibility reasons, limited on-street or nearby parking is available near each site. All four sites are ADA accessible. 

Refreshments will be served at St. Joseph Cathedral. The tour ends at Broad Street United Methodist Church, across the street from the starting point of the tour. 

You may wish to extend your tour by visiting the holiday light displays downtown: State Auto’s Historic Christmas Display and Life-Sized Nativity, displayed annually since 1932; Columbus Metropolitan Library Huntington Holiday Train Display, 96 S. Grant Ave. (closes at 6pm); Topiary Park Holiday Lights, behind Main Library; Columbus Commons Holiday Lights; and Scioto Mile Holiday Lights.
