The Franklin Park Medical Center features architectural elements inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. An important part of the City’s heritage, the building is included in Columbus Landmarks Foundation’s recent African-American Landmarks Preservation Initiative Report. The Medical Center was opened by five African-American physicians and served primarily African-American clientele at a time when medical services were still largely segregated. The building is currently unoccupied and has sustained significant water damage. Interested community residents are working to save the building.

12.01.15 UPDATE Columbus Landmarks was awarded a grant from the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit Pipeline Initiative to prepare a National Register Nomination for #1 on our Most Endangered Buildings List, the Franklin Park Medical Center at 1829 E. Long Street. Once listed, the building will be eligible for redevelopment assistance through the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit. The Columbus and Franklin County Land Banks announced in August 2015 a partnership to save the Franklin Park Medical Center and to make it available for redevelopment by others.
